About Calerae
It started with a different question..
Calerae grew from a simple question: what if the challenges we keep trying to fix are symptoms of something deeper?
That question changed the way I think about people, wellbeing, performance and sustainable change.
I didn’t set out to build a business around human capacity.
I set out to understand what had happened.
I’d always been capable, driven and used to handling a lot.
I built a career in manufacturing and automotive, became a manager in my twenties and returned to full-time leadership after each of my three children.
From the outside, everything looked successful.
Then it stopped working.
Burnout came in the form of a major relapse of ME, and recovery took years.
What stayed with me wasn’t simply that I’d become unwell.
It was how little the usual explanations seemed to explain it.
The advice focused on resilience, self-care and individual change.
But I kept wondering:
What if I wasn’t the only thing that needed to change?
The question that changed everything
As I recovered, trained as a coach and began working with other people, the same pattern kept appearing.
They weren’t lacking motivation.
They weren’t short of discipline.
They weren’t failing to try hard enough.
Often, they were incredibly capable.
But they were trying to function within conditions that made sustainable capacity increasingly difficult.
And suddenly the picture looked different.
The symptoms weren’t the problem. They were information.
Burnout. Overwhelm. Disengagement. Underperformance. Change that struggled to land.
Different outcomes.
Often shaped by the conditions underneath them.
That thinking became the foundation of Calerae.
Calerae starts somewhere different
Not helping people cope better with the wrong conditions.
Understanding and changing the conditions shaping capacity.
Not another wellbeing initiative.
A more intelligent way to understand what creates healthier people and stronger organisations.
Not treating symptoms in isolation.
Looking beneath them to understand what’s really driving the outcome.
People are extraordinary when the conditions allow them to be.
One belief. Three interconnected systems.
Calerae applies the same way of thinking across the places where human capacity is shaped — in our lives, in our organisations and through periods of change.
